Overview

Companies are the businesses you work with and invoice. They represent your billing relationships with organizations - each company can have multiple people affiliated with it, linked through “Works At.” Not every billing relationship goes through a company, though - a Person can now be billed directly with no company involved. See Billing a Person Directly. Key capabilities:
  • Track companies and their billing details
  • AI-powered company enrichment from web, Gmail, and Google Contacts
  • Complete billing history (invoices, proposals, payments)
  • Affiliate multiple people with role-based document access

Looking for the AI sales pipeline? Tracking deals through Lead → Opportunity → Won/Lost — with an agent that reviews each deal, drafts outreach, and detects won deals — lives on the new Sales Pipeline, not here. This page is about your company records. Deals can target either a Company or a Person.

Creating Companies

Go to CompaniesAdd Company → Fill name and details → Save Required: Company name Recommended: At least one affiliated person with email (needed for invoicing) Optional: Phone, website, address, internal notes
Ask Every Agent: Create new companies instantly:
  • “Create a company named ACME Corp with contact email contact@acme.com
  • “Add a new company for TechStart Inc, phone 555-0123, website techstart.io”
  • “Create a company called Global Consulting with address 123 Main St, New York, NY 10001”

Adding People to Companies

Every company needs at least one affiliated person to receive invoices and proposals, unless you bill the company’s own email address directly. People exist independently and can be affiliated with multiple companies. To add people:
  1. Open the company → its People section → Add
  2. Search for an existing person or create a new one
  3. Choose the document access level: Primary, Copied, Portal, or None. It governs both delivery and portal sign-in.
  4. The first person defaults to Primary; additional people default to Copied.
Ask Every Agent: Manage company people:
  • “Add John Smith as the primary invoice recipient for ACME Corp”
  • “Give Sarah Portal access for ACME Corp”
  • “Show me all people at ACME Corp”
For full details on people, importing, document access, and affiliations, see the People documentation.

Company Enrichment

AI-powered enrichment automatically finds and fills company and people information from multiple sources. How it works: Open a company record → Click Enrich → Choose enrichment mode → Every Agent queries Gmail, Calendar, web data, and Google Contacts to populate details. What gets enriched:
  • Company Data: Name, logo, website, address, industry, description
  • People: Discovers additional people at the company domain from Gmail headers and Google Contacts
  • Social Links: LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social profiles
Enrichment Modes:
  • Fill Empty (default): Only adds data to blank fields, preserves your existing entries
  • Overwrite: Updates all fields with enriched data, replacing existing values
Ask Every Agent: Trigger enrichment from chat:
  • “Create and enrich a company for Microsoft Corporation”
  • “Enrich the existing company Tesla Inc with updated company details”
  • “Find additional people at ACME Corp from my emails”
Works best for established businesses with web presence. May not find data for small businesses or individuals.

Tracking Sales with the AI Pipeline

Every’s sales tracking lives on the dedicated Sales Pipeline — an AI-managed kanban board that tracks deals (potential sales) through Lead → Opportunity → Won/Lost. An agent reviews each deal, drafts outreach and follow-ups, recommends the next step, and can detect won deals automatically. Deals link back to a Company or a Person record. This is a separate surface from your company list: the Companies page is for managing company records (details, affiliated people, billing history), while the pipeline is for working deals.

Company History

View complete activity timeline per company:
  • Invoice history and status
  • Proposal history and approvals
  • Payment records
  • Email tracking (sends, opens, clicks)
  • Expense and time tracking records

Search & Filtering

Search by: Name, email, company, phone Filter by: Active/archived, outstanding/overdue invoices, revenue Sort by: Alphabetical, recent, revenue, invoice count
Ask Every Agent: Find and filter companies:
  • “Show me all companies with overdue invoices”
  • “Find companies with outstanding balances”
  • “List all archived companies”
  • “Find the company ACME Corp”

Managing Companies

Editing

Open the company → Edit → Update fields → Save Changes
Changes don’t affect existing invoices, only new ones.
Ask Every Agent: Update company details:
  • “Update ACME Corp’s phone to 555-9999”
  • “Change the address for XYZ Company to 456 Oak Ave, San Francisco, CA 94102”
  • “Add website www.newsite.com to the company Beta Solutions”

Archiving

Archive inactive companies to hide them while preserving all data and history. To archive: Open the company → Archive → Confirm To restore: Filter archived → Open the company → Restore
Ask Every Agent: Archive or restore:
  • “Archive the company ABC Inc”
  • “Restore the archived company Old Company”
  • “Archive all companies with no invoices in the last 12 months”

Deleting

Deleting permanently removes the company. Only possible if no issued invoices exist. Archive instead to preserve history.

Company Dependencies

Understanding what a Company is required for (the same relationships are available with a Person instead - see Billing a Person Directly):

Best Practices

Add complete info for professional invoices - name, address, and at least one affiliated person with email
Use enrichment to save time filling in company details
Set document access carefully for proper invoice and proposal delivery
Archive instead of deleting to preserve billing history

Troubleshooting

Enrichment not finding data: Try name variations, add website URL, or enter details manually. Works best for established businesses with web presence. Can’t delete company: Archive instead - the company has issued invoices that preserve billing history. Invoices not sending to right people: Check document access on the company - ensure one person has Primary access for invoices. See People for details. Duplicate companies: Search before creating. If duplicates exist, archive one and move affiliated people/invoices to the other.
